Sayed Abdullah Fakhri, also known as Sayid Awlay Dawafrosh, was born in the year 1928 in the Parsanian village of Zeviyeh region of Saqiz, in East Kurdistan. His father died when he was only eight years old. His mother remarried in the Hawshar region and he settled there with his mother.
Haji Sayid Abdullah lived in Saqiz twice until the age of 15, and the second time he stayed in that permanently and became a worker in the house of Hama Hossein Ahmadi, who was known as Hama Hossein Haji Mirza Ali at that time.
Haji Sayid Abdullah learned herbal medicine from his mother, who was an expert in medicinal plants. During his working life, he constantly collected herbs for the local people. With the help of several families, he was able to open a shop. He remained at the service of the people of Saqiz until the end of his life.
Haji Sayid Abdullah and Arif Khani Nilufari were the only two perfume and herb shopkeepers in the city of Saqiz who traditionally wrapped their prescriptions for patients with special herbs. Haji Sayid Abdullah even was given an official license by the then Behdari network.
The late Haji Sayid Abdullah got married six times during his lifetime but had only five children, three sons, and two daughters.
Sayed Abdullah Fakhri, the Kurdish pharmaceutical vendor, died in Saqiz in the winter of the year 1985 due to an illness at the age of 57. One of his sons still runs the same perfume business and sells medicinal herbs.[1]
