Beytocan

Beytocan
Beytocan, der mit bürgerlichem Namen Beytullah Güneri hieß, wurde 1955 in einem Dorf bei #Farqîn# (tr. Silvan) in der nordkurdischen Provinz #Amed# (Diyarbakır) geboren. Er war das sechste Kind eines angesehenen Scheichs. 1980 wurde er von der türkischen Junta verhaftet und von einem Militärgericht wegen „Separatismus“ zu fünfzehn Jahren Haft verurteilt.

1987 wurde Beytocan vorzeitig entlassen. Er migrierte nach Istanbul in den Westen der Türkei, wo er zunächst mit türkischen Musikern wie Orhan Gencebay und Selami Şahin zusammenarbeitete, bevor er seine eigene Musikkarriere begann. 1990 wurde seine erste Platte „Te Nadin Min” veröffentlicht. Es folgten drei weitere Alben: „Bîst û Yekê Adarê”, das auch seinen bekanntesten Song „Yan mirin yan Diyarbekîr“ enthält, der in der Türkei verboten ist, sowie „Axinate Nalina Min“ und „Etuna Dilê Min“.

1991 verließ Beytocan die Türkei und ging nach Schweden, wo er politisches Asyl beantragte. Seine Heimat Amed sah er erst 2014 wieder. 2020 erkrankte er an Mundhöhlenkrebs und musste sich einer schweren Operation unterziehen, bei der ihm Zähne und Kieferknochen entfernt wurden. Singen konnte er seitdem nicht mehr, selbst das Sprechen fiel ihm schwer. Am 1. Oktober hätte er seinen 68. Geburtstag gefeiert.
Er verstarb am Dienstagfrüh 12-05-2023 in der schwedischen Hauptstadt Stockholm an den Folgen einer schweren Krebserkrankung. Er wurde 67 Jahre alt.[1]
