Venus Fayaq
She was born in Sulaimani. She is a poet, journalist and genocide activist.

Fortunately, she has admitted that she is not a member of the Kurdish Journalists Union.

• A collection of poems in Sorani called (Gunahe Jiwankan) in the Netherlands in 2001.
• A joint book in Dutch with several other Iraqi poets called Dwaallicht (Sparkling) was published in 2006.
• A joint book with several Iraqi poets in both Dutch and Arabic entitled (Several Iraqi Poets in the Netherlands) was published in 2002.
• Another book with several Iraqi poets in both Dutch and Arabic called (Signs) was published in 2003.
• A collection of poems in Northern Kurdish entitled (Beautiful Sins) was published in Istanbul, Turkey in 2007.
• A book in Kurdish entitled (Concept of Reform in Kurdistan and Reform of the Reform Wing) was published in April 2008.
• A collection of poems in Arabic entitled (طلا و الأظافر) (Nail Paint) published in Cairo/Egypt in 2008.
• Translation of a booklet from Arabic into Kurdish entitled (Article 19 of the Global Campaign for Freedom of Expression – Freedom of Access to Information and Investigative Journalism), published by Chawder in 2009.
• A novel in Arabic called Kharif al-Asabi (Autumn of the Fingers).
• A book about my poetry experience in Kurdish.
• A collection of poems in Kurdish called (Timogen)

$Awards and Honors$
• Anqa International Mobile Prize for Literary Innovation in 2005.
• Honorary Award by the International Association of Arabic Translators and Linguists, among 44 innovators from around the world, January 2008.

$Work Experience in Kurdistan$
• Announcer in Kurdistan People's Television and Radio, 1992 to 1994.
• 1993-1996: Writer and journalist for the Iraqi opposition newspaper Al-Mu'tamir.
• 1992-1996: Reporter for the Kurdistan National Union (KNU) newspaper Al-Ittihad.

• October 16 to 22, 2009, 9th Al-Mutanabbi World Poetry Festival in Switzerland.
• 2008 and 2009 A series of evenings in the Netherlands called (meer worden, meer kleuren) (more words, more colors) in Dutch.
• February 2009, Ongehoord Rotterdam (Unheard Rotterdam) poetry reading festival in the Netherlands with 17 other Dutch poets.
• May 2009, presented 2 lectures to 2 Dutch schools in Utrecht on the journey of experience and creativity with a poetry reading.
• December 11-14, 2008, 3rd Arabic Literature Salon, Brussels, Belgium.
• October 2008 Second Congress of Mass Graves in Najaf, Iraq, at the invitation of Shahid Al-Mihrab Foundation and presentation of a paper entitled (How to fairly compensate women survivors of mass graves in a society based on gender inequality?).
• January 26-28, 2008, First Congress of the International Recognition of Genocide Crimes in Erbil as a member of the Executive Committee of the Congress.
• 2006 Poets from the World Festival between the Netherlands and Belgium.
• 13 June 2009 20th Anniversary of Media Organization in the Netherlands with the participation of (Barzan Hastyar) from Germany and (Sabir Sadiq) from Sweden.
• 2007, First Women's Council Festival in Austria.
• Several other poetry conferences in Kurdish, Arabic and Dutch, with conferences on women.[1]
