İşgalci Avrupa devletleriyle savaş halindeki Ankara Hükümeti'ni resmen ilk tanıyan ve ilk uluslararası antlaşmayı imzalayan Sovyet Rusya'nın elçilik heyeti... Heyetin başındaki Semyon Ivanoviç Aralov'un Türk milli mücadelesine henüz tanık olmadan duyduğu hayranlık, Ankara'da iyice artacaktı.
Başta Mustafa Kemal olmak üzere Kurtuluş Savaşı'nın ve Büyük Millet Meclisi'nin kadrolarılya tanışması, halkla temasları, Başkomutan'la cephe gerisinde yaptığı yolculuklar sırasında adeta tarihe tanıklık ettiğini hissetmişti. Cumhuriyetin ilanından önce ayrıldığı Türkiye'yi hep takip etmiş, Lozan'da iki ülkeyi de memnun etmeyen Boğazlar sorununun Montrö'de çözümünü sevinçle karşılamıştı.[1]
