Hussein Huzni Mukiriyani
Sayed Hussein, son of Sayed Abdullatif, son of Sheikh Ismail, was born in 1893 in Mahabad. He was a Kurdish historian and journalist.
At the age of 12, he left his family in Mahabad and moved to Maragheh, Tabriz and Yerevan. He travelled through Kurdistan and the surrounding region for 12 years in search of Kurdish history and recording it. He was the first person who cared about recording history of Kurdistan in the Kurdish language.
He was interested in all kinds of information, including history, literature, journalism, stamp engraving, photography, and calligraphy. He published many literary and historical works and published eighteen valuable books between 1925 and 1947, most of which are about Kurdish history and Kurdistan.
He was the first Kurd to establish a printing house for the benefit of Kurdish language, history and literature. He established it in Aleppo in 1915 and later moved it to South Kurdistan in 1925. He published Zari Kurdish magazine in 1926-1932.
In 1935 and 1936, he published the magazine Runaki in Erbil with lawyer Sheikh Mustafa. In 1943-1947, he published the magazine and newspaper Dangi Geti Taze in collaboration with Tofiq Wahbi and Hassan Sheikh Hamamarf in Baghdad. He has published many historical, social, and Kurdish folk literature texts in this magazine and newspaper.
He died on 20-09-194720-09-1947
in Baghdad and his body was brought back to Erbil to be buried in the cemetery of Iman Mohammed.
