Ibrahim Khayat

Ibrahim Khayat
Ibrahim Mohammed Mustafa was born in 1931 in #Sulaymaniyah# to a poor family. He was one year old when his father died. He went to school at the age of six. Due to poverty he left school early and started working with his brother tofiq as a tailor, Ibrahim Khayat married in 1956 and had four sons and five daughters.
In his youth, he became a member of the Mawlawi Band and participated in several works with them. He sang the national anthem during the July 14 revolution, he also has many songs for love , in 1958 he was invited to #Vienna#, bands that were formed by young people and that had sang national anthems across the world were invited so they also participated.
He later became a member of the Sulaymaniyah Band and considered all the bands as his own. In the 1960s, he recorded several songs on #Baghdad# Radio, including: Bo Ranjarot Krdm, Isti’imary Gar(Filthy Colonialism), Hilfi Baghdad(Baghdad’s All y), To Jwantry La Gwl(you are more beautiful than a flower) and Khoshm Awet Wlatakam(I Love My Country).
Ibrahimy Khayat whichever poem he had made a song out of led to the popularity of the poet who had written the poem. For example, when we go into the garden of his songs, he takes us by the hand with Abdullah Beg Goran and takes us around Kurdistan, showing us the valleys of the country, cities and villages and all the beauty of the country. He resurrects songs and shares it with the boys and the girls and the future generation of this country. He does not stop here, he starts a journey from Soran to Goran, he doesn’t stop for even a moment. After a short break, he opens one side of hardi’s St. Fatima and puts it on Sablakh’s ears. The same original music introduced Khalil Sadiqi and took him to the ranks of the immortals.
He rarely sang anthems, but with a single anthem and a poem full of Kakay Fallah's feelings, he made us say with all our hearts: We love you, Mama Brahim, because by singing that anthem you taught us to love Kurdistan and appreciate Kakay Fallah.
Another point of interest in his art was his singing style. He was able to choose poems wisely and express his voice skillfully. With the weight of the poems, he gave the listeners such a voice and emotion that they immediately said: he gave it all that could be given.
Ibrahim Khayat's songs have not only made a mark on people, but have also inspired many other talents in his family. For example, Goran Ibrahim takes the listener to a magical world as soon as he plays his violin.
When you look at the theatre stage, you see Zhyan Ibrahim, who is a talented actor who teaches you Kurdism and resistance.
Jihan Ibrahim and Kizhan Ibrahim are two different and rare voices of this artistic family.
Soran is a good student of Goran Ibrahim and has a sweet finger. This is proof of the fact that Ibrahim had a significant influence on his family as a father and as an artist and he had made them to be brave in showing their talents.
In the mid-1980s, he recorded the song “Ema Gyanekin” (We Are O ne Soul)which was broadcast on Kirkuk television. The solo player of the song is his son Goran.
Ibrahim Khayat has released more than 100 songs for the Kurdish people, including his latest work was called “Sarnj” which was released in 2000 and he renewed two Maqam and one of his songs including : st Fatima, Dlm Har Aw Dlay Jarana and Bahar.
Ibrahim Khayat was a Kurdish artist with a sincere talent and a strong attitude. He passed away silently on the night of #03-05-2005#.[1]
