Ibrahim Pasha of Baban

Ibrahim Pasha of Baban
He was the son of Ahmad Pasha, son of Sulaiman Pasha of Baban, one of the most famous princes of the Baban principality. He is mostly known for building the #Sulaymaniyah# city.
Brahim Pasha was a brave prince who had a thorough knowledge of running the country. He spent most of his life in #Baghdad#, because he liked civilized life, he was loved and respected among the officials of Baghdad province.
This period in the history of the Baban principality was a time of conflict between the Baban princes and the interference of Rome and foreigners in the affairs of the principality, so the emirs were changed frequently.
Historical sources say that after Mahmud Pasha of Baban left Baba in the second half of the eighteenth century, the governor of Baghdad, Suleiman Pasha, appointed Ibrahim Pasha, Mahmud Pasha's nephew as ruler of Baban.
Ibrahim Pasha's first task after taking office was to lay the foundation of a modern city near the village of Malkandi, near the palace built by Mahmud Pasha in 1775. In 1784, the city named was Sulaymaniyah became the capital of the Baban principality.
Ibrahim Pasha of Baban, in addition to this great service, always tried to rebuild and consolidate security and was able to bring the Baban power to Khanaqin, Zahaw and Qasri Shirin without fighting , Several times they removed this benevolent king and made him ruler of the Baban Empire again.
In 1796, when Ibrahim Pasha and his army went to help the Ottoman governor in Sinjar, Ibrahim Pasha died of an illness near Mosul and was buried near the shrine of the prophet Yunus.[1]
