Keeley Hawes stars in the new two-parter but who else can we expect to see in the true-life drama about the brutal murder of Banaz Mahmod?
A police chief's determination to uncover what happened to a missing woman will be the central storyline of new ITV drama Honour.
The two-parter follows the investigation into missing 20-year-old Banaz Mahmod, whose body was eventually found inside a suitcase buried in a Birmingham garden. Five family members were convicted of her murder and another jailed for helping to dispose of the body.
Banaz was raped, tortured and strangled in a so-called 'honour killing' by her family after they said they brought shame on them for leaving an arranged marriage and finding love with a new partner.
The official synopsis for the drama states: Having discovered that the recently murdered woman had been to the police five times to report threats from members of her own family, DCI Goode vows that she would not rest until she gets justice for her.
Keeley Hawes, whose previous credits include Ashes to Ashes, Line of Duty, Bodyguard and The Durrells, plays Detective Chief Inspector Caroline Goode.
Joining her in the cast are Buket Komur as murder victim Banaz Mahmod, Umit Ulgen as Banaz's father Mahmod Babakir Mahmod and Selva Rasalingam as her uncle Ari Agha Mahmod.
Waj Ali plays Mohammed Hama, who was also involved in the horrific crime and was secretly taped admitting to the murder.
Waj was previously seen on TV as Constable Berwick in the series Carnival Row, and in 2019 Agatha Christie tale Agatha and the Curse of Ishtar.
Other cast members include Moe Bar-El as Banaz’s new boyfriend Rahmat Sulemani, who later took his own life.
Karen Sampford plays Detective Sergeant Judy Bakewell, and Lee Byford, Robby Haynes, James Leon and Jim Quirke portray other police officers involved in the case. Chris Wilson plays the Metropolitan Police Commander.[1]
