Alex Kemman (Netherlands, 1988)
Being a cultural anthropologist and criminologist I have a deep interest in socio-political themes. Specifically issues such as commodifcation, inequality and on a broader scale state, corporate and environmental crime. As such, my photography is not about beautiful or sensational images. Instead, I try to convey a reality that is deeply intertwined with personal experiences. In this I believe a combination of image and text is most appropiate, as it allows complex themes to become more accessible.
Besides being based in the Netherlands for the last years I have also lived and traveled in Turkey and (Kurdish) Iraq. Recently I also gained an interest in Mexico.
