Osman Muhammad Hawrami
Osman Muhammad Hawrami
Osman Hawrami was born in 1940 in Tewela in Hawraman region to a poor family. In 1947, he was educated in Tewela school. After graduating from the second grade, his father moved to Sulaymaniyah in 1948 where they have been living ever since. He then went to Kani Askan Primary School and completed his primary, secondary and high school education. He graduated from the literary department in Sulaymaniyah.
In 1958, he was a temporary teacher at Tewela Primary School for Boys. He was unable to go to Baghdad to complete his studies due to poverty.
In 1959, when the Kurdish language department was opened for the first time in the College of Arts in Baghdad, he was admitted there, but unfortunately it lasted only two months due to lack of money and poverty. He was forced to return and was appointed as a temporary teacher in the village of Chinarna in Bingird district.
In the summer of 1960, a special course was opened for secondary school graduates. He participated and graduated first and volunteered to go to the most remote village in Sulaymaniyah, which is the village of Shene in Qaladze.
He has taught and served in many different schools all over Kurdistan. He has made several suggestions to the education department for the selection of some Kurdish reading books – especially the alphabet of the leading teacher (Ibrahim Baldar).
He was engaged in various fields of writing, speeches and poetry, but mostly in the field of poetry, education and children's literature. For twelve years, he broadcast a daily educational program (Smile) on Gali Kurdistan Voice Radio, which he prepared himself. This is despite the fact that he was a teacher for 47 years.
In return for his comprehensive services, he has been awarded by the following parties: Ministry of Culture of the Kurdistan Region - twice, Sulaymaniyah Education Directorate, Galawezh Cultural Literature Center, 2nd Hawraman Festival, Invitation to the 7th Mother Language Conference, Multilingual Center - Västerås - Sweden).
From 2003-2006 he worked as an expert in the translation center.
He has also published multiple articles in magazines and newspapers, as well as multiple books.[1]
