=KTML_Bold=Pride in our past=KTML_End=
The university of Duhok was founded on 31st of October 1992, following a resolution by the Kurdistan Parliament to address the increasing demand for higher education in the region. Initially, the university established with two colleges; the College of Medicine and the College of Agriculture. The Medical College started with 48 students, while the College of Agriculture with 166. During the first two years, the two embargoes imposed by the UN on Iraq and by the Iraqi Central Government on Kurdistan contributed to the slow paced growth of the University and the poor economic conditions in Kurdistan. After these hardships had passed, the university found itself in a position to steer towards progress and improvement
Thus, the UoD has grown Today to an institution of 19 colleges with 67 Departments, 22942 undergraduate students, 1827 academic staff and 2527 administration staff. The University of Duhok is a member of International Association of Universities (IAU), European Association for International Education (EAIE), and Association of Arab Universities (AARU).
The vision of the University is to be a leading university, committed to research and teaching and its foremost concern is to provide an excellent education to all those who have the ability and are ambitious and motivated to learn. This can be achieved through the provision of programmes informed by our research and designed to reflect contemporary and societal issues and which take full advantage of the facilities and resources a the university, a curriculum and student experience that equips graduates for personal and professional success.
At the University of Duhok, we provide our staff and students with all necessary facilities: laboratories, computing services, sports facilities, housing accommodations and many extracurricular activities to nurture and encourage ambition and excellence through a supportive learning environment.
As a comprehensive plan to enhance English language skills, Training and Development Center at the University offers intensive courses and new advanced courses in teaching and research methods which are taught by native speakers..[1]
