Salih Muhammad Amin
Salih Muhammad Amin
Salih Muhammed Amin, who was known as Salih Qazani by some of his friends, was born in 1943 and passed away on 16-04-2013 in Sulaymaniyah after a difficult struggle with an illness. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Sulaymaniyah. He graduated from the Department of Mathematics at the Senior Teachers' Council of Baghdad University in 1965. Since then, he has taught mathematics in secondary schools in most Kurdish cities and towns. He worked as a teacher until 1996 and after the uprising became the supervisor of mathematics. Before spending a year in his supervision and completing his probationary period, he fled abroad and settled in the Netherlands at the end of the same year. He returned to Kurdistan in 2003. On 20-09-2004 he was appointed head of the Sulaymaniyah office of the Iraqi High Election Commission. On 10-11-2005, he became the Chairman of the High Electoral Commission in the Kurdistan Region. In 2007, he translated the report of the Independent High Electoral Commission in Iraq and a report for representatives – three historic electoral processes in a year into Kurdish. In April 2007, he returned to the Netherlands due to illness. In November 2007, he resigned without filling out a new application for renewal of his duties in the Commission. He later retired as a teacher due to age.

$Human rights activities:$
He was a member of the founding congress of the Kurdistan Human Rights Organization, which was held on 10-12-1991 in Erbil. He later supervised the publication Voice of Man and a television program of the same name, which was broadcast every two weeks on all four local television channels at the time. In the second congress held on 15-17-07-1993 in Sulaymaniyah, he was elected as the head of the Sulaymaniyah Committee of the Human Rights Organization in Kurdistan. He represented the Human Rights Organization on the committee and was later elected to the committee's board of directors. He has edited the publication Peace and Brotherhood. Since early 2004, he has edited the website Voice of Man. He wrote a report on the violations that occurred from 1993 to 1996, including the suicide war. For several reasons, the Sulaymaniyah Committee decided to stop publishing it. He wrote several articles on human rights in Kurdish newspapers and magazines.

$In the field of literature:$
* In late 1962, his first work, a short broadcast entitled For My Lover, was published in Hiwa magazine.

* The story of the burning of 10 Kurdish men and children, who were being transported from Kirkuk prison to Baghdad, and on the way their car caught fire and all burned, only one of them survived, becomes the basis of the novel.
