$Biography$
Younis Mohammed Salim Younis, also known as Lieutenant Younis Rozhbayani, graduated from the Military College in Baghdad in 1967. He joined the ranks of the September Revolution in 1971 after the reorganization of the Peshmerga forces after the collapse of the September Revolution. He joined the Peshmerga forces of the the interim leadership of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP). In 1979, he was elected as a member of the Central Committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in the ninth congress. On April 25, 1993, he was appointed Minister of Interior in the first cabinet. In 2010, he was elected as a member of the leadership council of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) at the 13th congress.
He was born in 1944 in Duhok. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Mosul. On December 6, 1964, he was admitted to the Baghdad Military College and in 1967 he was promoted to the rank of second lieutenant. After graduating, he was employed by the Iraqi Ministry of Defense and served in various military positions. He is fluent in Kurdish, Arabic and Persian.

$Struggles$
In 1960 he joined the Kurdistan Students Union, in 1961 he joined the PDKand in 1971 he joined the Peshmerga forces of the September Revolution. He served in many different positions as a Peshmerga and commander and participated in battles and confrontations with the enemy forces.
In 1975, after the collapse of the September Revolution, he fled to Iran. In early April 1975, he was appointed by Massoud Barzani to prepare for the May Revolution. In 1976, he secretly visited South Kurdistan on the orders of Idris Barzani (1944-1987) to establish contacts with the organizations.
On November 15, 1977, he participated in the meeting of the interim leadership of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) to reorganize the Peshmerga forces and revive the organizations. In 1979, he was elected as a member of the Central Committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) at the 9th Congress (1997), 10th Congress (1989), 11th Congress (1993) and 12th Congress. In 1980, he was appointed head of the third branch of the Kurdistan Democratic Party. In 1988, he was appointed head of the military bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).
On May 19, 1992, he was elected as a member of the Kurdistan National Assembly on the PDK list and was appointed chairman of the Peshmerga Affairs Committee. On April 25, 1993, he was appointed Minister of Interior in the first cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government.
In 2004, he was appointed head of the committee of the fourteenth branch of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in Mosul. He was elected as a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) leadership council in 2010. On February 16, 2017, he survived an assassination attempt in Mosul, but two of his bodyguards were killed. He was awarded the Barzani Medal by Massoud Barzani for his actions in the September Revolution, the May Revolution, the South Kurdistan Uprising and the sovereignty period.[1]
