Rabar Rashid Salih
Rabar Rashid Salih
In his own words:
My full name is Fazel Rashid Salih. I was born in 1963 in the village of Kitka in the town of Pardey in Kirkuk province.
However, I am registered as born in 1965. I studied in Kitka village until the fifth grade. After the collapse of the September Revolution, we were transferred from our village to Qarabag village and then to Pirde town.
I completed my primary and secondary education in Parde. In 1983, I graduated from the Kirkuk Teachers' College and was employed as a teacher in Darmanaw village.
In late 1980, I joined the organizations of the Kurdistan Socialist Party. In 1984, after the organizations of the Socialist Party in Pirde were revealed, I became a Peshmerga in the ranks of the Kurdistan Socialist Party/Revolutionary Democratic Direction.
In 1986, I became a member of the editorial board of Alai Azadi and the magazine Peshketni Sardam Shakh. I was arrested during my Peshmerga activities as a result of taking a stand against the leadership of the Kurdistan Socialist Party/Revolutionary Democratic Direction. When I was transferred to the headquarters of the party, I ran away from the village of Bane in Dinarta and surrendered to the regime under pressure in early 1988.
In the spring uprising of 1991, with the support of the people of the city and without the participation of the Peshmerga forces, we liberated the town of Pirde from the Ba'athists.
In 1994, I returned to teaching again and became a teacher in Banaslawa. As a result of not bowing to either party, I lived the worst life in the mid-1990s and there were days when I did not have a penny in my pocket.
In 1992, we founded the Raperin Committee with several friends. In 1995, I attended the founding conference of the Kurdistan Farmers Movement. I was a member of the media department of the Farmers movement.
After the PUK's attack on the Farmers movement, I became the editor-in-chief of the publication Pala, which was the language of the Kurdistan Farmers movement.
In 1997, I prepared the program Voice of Farmers on Radio Azadi Erbil and the same program was sent to all Azadi Radios (Shaqlawa, Soran, Sulaymaniyah, Chamchamal and Kalar) of the Kurdistan Communist Party. In the same year, I became the editor-in-chief of the publication Voice of Farmers, first under the name of Lalo Jafar and later under the name of Raber Rashid.
In the spring of 2003, the spring of the fall of Ba'ath, for three days and three nights as a reporter for Azadi TV in Erbil, we prepared a rare report on the region and the powerlessness of the regime's army.
On the first day of the liberation of Parde and Kirkuk, as a reporter of Azadi TV, we brought our first report on the liberation of Pirde, Dubz and Kirkuk back to Erbil, where most people did not believe that Kirkuk had been liberated.
On September 5 and 6, 2003, together with a number of intellectuals of Pirde township, we established the first conference (Pirde Cultural Center) and I was elected as the president of the center.
Since 2003, I have been the editor-in-chief of both Pirde of Brotherhood and Free Pirde. (Brotherhood Bridge) was issued by the Bridge Committee of the Communist Party. Pardey Azad is published by Parde Cultural Center and I am still its editor.
Since April 2008, I have been a member of the Kirkuk branch of the Kurdistan Union of Journalists. I am also a member of the World Federation of Journalists. I am also a reporter for Azadi TV in Kirkuk.
In addition to writing articles, reports and other journalistic work, I am also engaged in translation and I translated a book called (Introduction to Media Science) written by Dr. Habib Kirkuk and published by Mukriyan Publishing House.
Two novels and three translated books on media are ready for publication. I am currently a fourth year student at the Dutch University of Hurram in Kirkuk/College of Media, Department of Journalism.[1]
