$Biography$
Martyr Abdulkhaliq Ma'roof, who was a well-known Kurdish writer and intellectual, was born on 01-12-1935 in a patriotic family in the city of Erbil, South Kurdistan. After completing his primary and secondary education in Erbil, he went to Cairo, Egypt in 1958 to continue his studies at Al-Azhar University.

Abdulkhaliq Ma'roof was passionate about reading and self-enlightenment since a very young age, and he was known as a contemporary scholar in his area. He joined the September Revolution in 1963 and served the revolution with all his intellectual, cultural, and artistic abilities.
This outstanding man, besides being an intellectual Peshmerga and a talented writer, had a lot of expertise in electricity. He devoted this ability and talent to the service of his people and established the Voice of the Kurdish People radio station in the wake of the Kurdish People's Revolution.
Abdulkhaliq Ma'roof, a writer, intellectual and patriot, was such a beloved social personality that he was respected throughout Kurdistan, especially among writers and progressive political forces.

He has tried to promote Kurdish society in many fields of literature, thought and science. From 1977 to 1985, he contributed five important works to the Kurdish library, including the book (Technician) published in 1980 and the book (Man in Kurdish Society).
Regarding physics and electricity, in 1979, he published a booklet on physics and electricity in the Arabic language and wrote another book on transistors.
Mr. Abdulkhaliq Ma'roof was martyred by the dirty hands of a traitor terrorist on 10-04-1985 in his home city of Erbil, South Kurdistan.[1]
