Ahmad Khani
Ahmad Khani
#Ahmad Khani# His full name is Ahmad Eliyas Rostam he got his poetic nickname from the Khanian tribe , He is considered one of the greatest Kurdish Writers, Poets and Intellectual figure.
Khani was born in 1650 in Bayazid city, he was born from a family that were financially stable so he had a quite happy life in this regard.
He spent most of his life spreading knowledge and educating kurdish people, he himself was a great poet and inventor in the field of literature, he also was a great teacher and advocate for Kurdish people's education.
He passed away in 1707 in his own city Bayazid and was buried in the same place.

Kurdish language at that time wasn't a famous language for literature, Because at that time most of the poets and writings were written either in Arabic or Persian plus at that time there weren't many literate people that were able to read and write that's why Khani knew well that he wouldn't have many readers if he writes in Kurdish language. Despite this Khani wrote in Kurdish for two reasons: first he had a strong sense of nationality and wanted to preserve and develop Kurdish language, he also used Kurdish language as a tool agiants the oppressors.
He always wanted to see a unified voice of Kurdish Princes and Rulers of that time, for this reason through his poets and writings he was expressing his dissatisfaction agiants the Kurdish rulers of that time cause he thought they were easily swayed by the enemies of Kurds.
His book (Eqideya Imane) which can be translated as the (creed of faith) is written in a poetic fashion about the 5 pillars of Islam. it was published in 2000 in Sweden.
(nwbehara bchwkan) 1683 is a small Arabic to Kurdish dictionary that he wrote in a poetic style for children, for the first time it was published in Rawanduz.
#Mem and Zin# ( #Mem û Zîn#) which is a Kurdish masterpiece that was written in 1692 and was published in 1919 in Istanbul.[1][2]
