American political theorist Michael Hardt published a message of support for Abdullah Öcalan’s historic ‘Call for Peace and Democratic Society’, saying that: Kurdish movement remains a source of inspiration throughout the world.
American political theorist Michael Hardt shared a message of support for Abdullah Öcalan's February 27 ‘Call for Peace and a Democratic Society’ and the PKK's congress decisions to disband and disarm. Hardt is best known for his 2000 book Empire and 2004 book Multitude: War and Democracy in the Age of Empire, both co-written with Antonio Negri, one of the leading Marxist and communist philosophers of our time. Hardt's message reads as follows:

I admire and support the decision by Öcalan and by the PKK to forge a new path toward peace and democracy. For this process, the Kurdish movement will have to invent a new meaning for peace and new political structures for democracy. I am confident that it can succeed in this task, despite repressive forces, because it has shown time and again the power to innovate politically. For this reason, the Kurdish movement remains a source of inspiration throughout the world.[1]
