The revolutionary (Ali Mardan Khan Bakhtiari, 1892 AD - 1934 AD).
He is Ali Mardan Khan Bakhtiari, also known as (Shir Ali Mardan), one of the Kurdish revolutionaries from the (Bakhtiari) tribe, who revolted between the years (1929 AD - 1934 AD) against the Iranian Pahlavi rule, his full name is (Ali Mardan Khan Ibn Ali Quli Khan, son of Muhammad Ali Khan), his mother is the well-known Kurdish revolutionary (Bibi Maryam Bakhtiari), daughter of (Hussein Quli Khan Ilkhani Bakhtiari), and sister (Ali Quli Khan Bakhtiari), he is called (Ali Mardan Khan Bakhtiari) as (Ali Mardan Khan Al Moaser) Also, in order to distinguish him from (Ali Mardan Khan I), one of the former Lorestan khans, (Ali Mardan Khan Bakhtiari) was born in the town of (Janarud Faridun) in the Greater Lorestan region – southeastern Kurdistan, in the year 1892 AD. His father died in his youth as a result of a family conspiracy. He spent his childhood with his maternal grandmother (Bibi Fatima Jawar Link) and with his uncles (Ali Quli Khan Sardar Asaad) and (Sardar Zafar), and he entered the school, In his youth, Ali Mardan Khan Bakhtiari was one of the knights of the Bakhtiari tribe, who participated in the constitutional conditional revolution during the Qajar rule. (Jewar Link) On behalf of the (Haft Link) clans, (Ali Mardan Khan) and his brother (Muhammad Ali Khan) were appointed as the head of the (Jewar Link) clans. (Ali Mardan Khan Bakhtiari) sent a letter of complaint to the President of the (People's Consultative Assembly) Pahlavi, It is preserved in its original copy in the Documentation Center of the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly. In that letter, Ali Mardan Khan referred to several points and issues, the most important of which are:
1. The continuation of injustice and cruelty against the Bakhtiari tribe, and the exploitation of their children without mercy.
2. The dependence of the Pahlavi government on foreign officials in the departments located in the areas of the Bakhtiari tribe, and neglecting the right of the Bakhtiaris in those departments.
3. Indifference to the principles of constitutional conditionality and justice.
In the year 1929 AD, and after an agreement with the leaders of his tribe (Bakhtiari tribe) in the Greater Lorestan region, (Ali Mardan Khan Bakhtiari) decided to ignite a revolution against the founder of the Pahlavi state (Reza Shah Pahlavi),
All the men of the (Bakhtiari) tribe in its two branches (Çiwar Ling and Heft Ling) joined the revolution, and the revolutionaries were able to liberate the city of (Shahr Kurd), the capital of the Greater Lorestan Province and the stronghold of the Bakhtiari tribe. All the Azeri administrative officials in the city, who were remnants of the Qajar rule and served the Pahlavi rule, were also arrested and imprisoned. The rebels also took control of the north of Khuzestan province, which is inhabited by the Bakhtiari tribe. Then the rebels headed towards the city of Isfahan and took control of parts of the city of Isfahan as well. The forces of (Reza Shah Pahlavi) moved towards the Lorestan region, and launched an attack from all directions on the rebels, but they were defeated by the Kurdish Bakhtiari rebels led by (Ali Mardan Khan), The revolutionaries were able to capture many soldiers and officers of the Pahlavi forces, and they were transferred to the city of (Shahr Kurd). The revolution of (Ali Mardan Khan Bakhtiari) lasted for 5 years, and the forces of (Reza Shah Pahlavi) besieged the city of (Shahr Kurd) with large numbers and heavy weapons for a year, during which several confrontations took place, In the year 1934 AD, the Pahlavi government asked the notables of the Bakhtiari tribe to mediate to persuade Ali Mardan Khan to end his revolution and surrender to the Pahlavi forces, in return for not taking any measures against him. Ali Mardan Khan Bakhtiari decided to end his revolution and surrender himself to the Pahlavi forces. However, the Pahlavi authorities, after arresting (Ali Mardan Khan Bakhtiari), broke their promise and issued a death sentence against him (accused of igniting the revolution against the Pahlavi rule). And he was executed in the same year, in Al-Qasr Prison, in the Pahlavi capital, Tehran, by firing squad. And his body was buried in (Takiet Amir) dedicated to the tombs of men and notables of the Bakhtiari tribe, in the cemetery (Takht Folad) in the city of Isfahan in Persia.[1] [2]
