My name is Rand Zare’i, and I was born in 1982 in Bana.
I completed my primary and secondary education in Bana and started working in industry and mechanics at a very young age.
At the age of 18, I joined the ranks of the Democratic Party and was a Peshmerga of that party for 10 years. During my 10 years as a Peshmerga, I have had many party responsibilities, one of which was the responsibility of the Youth Union.
Alongside my Peshmerga duty, I completed my secondary education in the south. I graduated from the Koya Institute of Management in the south of Kurdistan.
Since I was 19, I have been writing and translating more seriously than before. I say the more than before, because as far as I can remember, I had a passion for writing and reading. As a child, I wrote my own stories, then as a child I became a poet, and then I wanted to continue my cultural work as a translator.
I came to Europe in 2010 and settled in Norway. I resumed my secondary education there and then graduated in sociology from the University of Oslo. I have the right to asylum and citizenship of that country, but now I live in Sweden, and I am married to Hero Parsa, the daughter of martyr Taha Kermanj.
Let me note that all my works were published until 2010 under the name of Ismail Zare’i.[1]
