aramo (born 13 november 1973) is a kurdish singer, composer, producer, television presenter, entrepreneur, and media utive. he is known for his contributions to kurdish pop music and his significant influence on the television industry in the kurdistan region.
early life and education
aramo was born on 13 november 1973 in yerevan, armenia. during his childhood, he attended a local music school, he studied the armenian instrument duduk. in 1991, he and his family moved to russia, he continued his education at a music university and began his career as a composer and music producer.
music career
in 2004, aramo released his first album, se dil (“three hearts”), named after his three sons. his music primarily falls within the kurdish pop genre.
television career
in 2006, aramo moved to erbil, iraq, to make a major impact on kurdish media. there, he founded aramo media, a production company responsible for creating television programs. he produced shows such as mivan show and çarx u felek on zagros tv, he also appeared as a presenter.
in 2009, aramo launched kanal 4, the first entertainment television channel in the history of kurdistan. on kanal 4, he hosted his own program, aramoshow, inspired by american late-night talk shows such as the tonight show with jimmy fallon. during this period, he also acquired a 50 stake in korek tv, one of the leading music television channels in kurdistan.
aramo also produced several international-format television programs, including got talent and later began producing content for kurdmax tv, delivering some of the network’s most popular entertainment programs. according to ipsos ratings, these productions became the top-rated entertainment shows in the kurdistan region.
in 2013, aramo launched net tv, initially designed as a business and entertainment channel. it later shifted fully to entertainment programming. net tv was awarded as one of the top television channels in kurdistan for many years, consistently ranking in the top four channels for over nine years.
in 2020, the covid-19 pandemic significantly impacted both his work and the kurdistan region’s economy. during the pandemic, his partners reportedly conspired against him and in later years, due to a declining market in erbil, aramo decided to shut down net tv.
in 2024, he became art director at rudaw tv, the leading news channel in kurdistan, he contributed to redesigning and modernizing the network’s on-screen presentation.
legacy
aramo has been described as the “media imperator” in the kurdistan region for his influence on television. his work has significantly contributed to the development of television entertainment, and the careers of numerous kurdish stars.
