The Kurdish people, following their repeated disappointments with the Iraqi state, held their referendum on 25th September 2017, believing that this would demonstrate to the world the maturity of the people of Kurdistan and their belief in resolving the hundred year question with peaceful and contemporary means. Alas the response of the Iraqi state was one of intimidation, racism and the barrels of guns .[2]
