The 30-year archive of #Kurdish television# channels, which introduced the Kurdish people to the world and overcame bans and borders by broadcasting via satellite, is now being made public through a social media platform. The launch of the archive, named Kurd Archive, was announced with the following message: A treasure that waited 30 years is now being opened. The values preserved for years by broadcasting that entered every home via satellite, overcoming bans and borders, and introducing the Kurdish people to the world, are now back with you. The massive archive of visuals filmed and produced throughout the life of Kurdish broadcasting is being opened after 30 years. In this context, priority will be given to programs from the MED TV era, the first Kurdish satellite television channel, which began broadcasting in 1995. These will be followed by programs from Medya TV and ROJ TV.
Among these materials, many of which made a mark on their era and featured numerous “firsts”, are programs covering topics ranging from music to politics, religious broadcasts to history.
But it doesn’t end there, wrote the promoters, adding that the project will also include all works about the peoples of Kurdistan, their languages, ethnic structures, beliefs, weddings and ceremonies, culture, and special days.
The work is being carried out by a team that actively participated in and contributed to all periods of Kurdish broadcasting.
YouTube and other social media platforms have already been set up with profiles and channels, and content sharing has begun. Although the published content is colorful, a black-and-white logo was chosen to reflect the core essence of the work.
The promoters said about the content: We scan existing footage and present selected segments. But we never alter the footage, what was filmed is what gets broadcast.
The project is extensive and designed to span many years, requiring significant effort. Steps have been carefully planned. First and foremost, legal and copyright issues were addressed to clarify all license, rights, and sharing permissions for the programs and visuals.
