Husayn Quli Khan Ilkhani Bakhtiari, 1821-1882 AD.
Hussein Quli Khan Ilkhani Bakhtiari, leader of the Kurdish (Bakhtiari) tribe, was born in the year 1821 A.D., in the village of (Chaghakhur) in the city of (Bergen) in the province of (Shahr Kurd), within the Greater Lorestan region in southeastern Kurdistan, and he is the eldest son of (Arshad Jaafar Quli Khan Bakhtiari), and belongs to the (Papi) clan, one of the Kurdish Bakhtiari clans in the Greater Lorestan region. Hussein Quli Khan Ilkhani was strong and one of the most famous nobles of the (Bakhtiari) tribe. Until his tribe (the Bakhtiari tribe) became one of the strongest political poles in the Qajar state, under whose control eastern Kurdistan (including the Lorestan region) was, Hussein Quli Khan was able, with his intelligence, to impose his authority on the regions of (Dinaran), (Dorki) and (Babadi). He was 24 years old, and over the years he expanded the areas of his authority, until he was able, in the year 1847 AD, to take over the leadership of his tribe (the Bakhtiari tribe) on behalf of one of his great uncles, who is (Mahdi Quli Khan),
It was in this situation that Husayn Quli Khan established his strength. And in the year 1850 AD, he went to (Jam Soltaniyeh) to serve Nasir al-Din Shah, and during that meeting Nasir al-Din Shah gave him a golden sword, in the year 1859 he was elected to the Bakhtiari tribe and throughout that period he expressed his loyalty to the Qajar authorities, Hussein Quli Khan ruled the (Bakhtiari) tribe for many years, unchallenged, and thus became envied by the previous rulers of Isfahan, such as (Farhad Mirza Motamid al-Dawla) uncle (Nasser al-Din Shah Qajar) in the night June 13, 1882 AD, (Hussein Quli Khan Ilkhani Bakhtiari) attended with his two sons (Esfandiar Khan) and (Ali Quli Khan) in (Shah Square) in the city of Isfahan, in response to an invitation addressed to him by (Masoud Mirza - the shadow of the Sultan) son of (Nasir Al-Din Shah Qajar) under the pretext of training the soldiers, and after completing the training, they were summoned on the same night, accompanied by (Masoud Mirza - Zil Sultan) to a government building, so they killed him there treacherously with a deadly poison that was poured into a cup of coffee that was presented to him while he was in their hospitality, says Bibi Maryam, daughter of Hussein Quli Khan Ilkhani Bakhtiari :
{I still do not know how my father was killed, but I remember the morning of that night when they announced that (Ilkhani) had suffered a stroke, and then his body was respectfully transferred to the cemetery (Takht Foolad) in the city of Isfahan, and he was buried in (Tekyet Mir).[1] [2]
