He was born in 1968 in Erbil. In 1983 he was admitted to the music department of the Sulaymaniyah Institute of Fine Arts. He studied music with great artists such as Anwar Qaradaghi and Salah Rauf. In 1985, after the distortion of the institute by the repressive institutions of the Ba'ath regime, he was forced to move to the Mosul Institute of Fine Arts. In 1988, he graduated from the music department of the Mosul Institute of Fine Arts.
After the Kurdistan People's Uprising in March 1991 and the establishment of the first cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government, he was appointed as a music teacher at the Institute of Light for the Blind in Erbil. Together with other students and teachers of the institute, they were able to form a beautiful music group and recorded several anthems and songs. It is worth mentioning that Ranj Majid has composed many songs and participated in various artistic activities.[1]
