Ali Ashraf Darwishian
He was born in 1946 in Kermanshah. He worked as a schoolteacher in villages of Kermanshah region for 15 years. In 1966, he entered the Department of Persian Literature at Tehran University, where he studied for a master's degree in educational psychology. Tehran Higher Science Center
He continues his studies until the master's degree in counseling and teaching guidance.
Darwishian is a member of the Iranian Writers' Association and has written several books in various fields of literature. He has carried out some valuable works and projects especially in the field of ordinary people's culture. Aside from these he has also written several novels and short stories in Persian, which focus on the struggle and problems of the Kurdish people and social issues.
More than 60 of Darwishian's books and works have been published in the fields of stories for children, collections, short stories, novels, and culture of ordinary people.
Ali Ashraf Darwishian's most important work is the writing and compilation of a large project called Dictionary of Iranian People's Legends in 20 volumes, which is the product of 22 years of efforts and struggles of this author. This dictionary is a collection of interesting and historical stories that contains all the legends of the people of Iran in 20 different volumes. The book was prepared with the assistance of Reza Khandan Mahabadi and published by the Book and Culture Publishing House in Tehran. It is worth mentioning that this is the first time that such a rich dictionary has been collected in Iran.[1]
